SEMIPERMEABLE: SYRINGE

Brasil - Estados Unidos 2024 | Marcos Serafim | 20 min

Cine Insomnia

This engagement with corporate generative AI exposes its constraints by probing its refusals to depict certain penetrabilities: the cell invaded by a virus, the US/Mexico border crossed, the mouth opened to a tongue, the skin pierced by a syringe. These omissions, shaped by the cultural and geopolitical biases embedded in prompts and datasets, generate distortions-feverish, sensorial images where love, sexuality, and the death drive converge. The imagery is further altered through custom computational tools for audiovisual signal processing.
