“Using, abusing, ripping, dropping, deconstructing, mixing until the borders are lost, until the limits are erased, until I become a corrupted archive beyond my original construct, the images of culture demand. To look well you have to look twice.”
CURATORSHIP: Pablo Molina Guerrero, from the International Festival Process of Error.
The works to be exhibited are:
17 months / Dir. Andrés Zúñiga (Chile, 2013, 6 min)
Synopsis: For 17 months an individual and his country are strangers, strangers to each other. The birth of Andrés coincides with the death of another Andrés (Jarlan) in a Chile fractured by a civic-military dictatorship, a context that will inevitably overflow this fragile private world. "17 months" is an autobiographical exercise based on other people's files (some of them found in informal commerce) that reflects on the disparate relationships that an individual can have with his environment.
The evil eye / Dir. María Paula Díaz (Chile, 2018, 11 min)
Synopsis: The story takes place in the psyche of the protagonist. Paula is haunted by certain scenes from her past. These memories of her make her move away from the everyday world and dwell in her memory. Her fixation has her permanently immersed in mental images of her and movie scenes.
partial detonation / Dir. Andrea González G. (Chile, 2017, 5 min)
Synopsis: Work that uses personal files as well as material downloaded from the Internet, to show the relationship between the individual and territory -a certain vision of helplessness in the face of natural settings and other unmanageable forces-, as well as to raise the traffic of images to which we are exposed and the potential of these to configure realities; dispose ourselves as spectators, generate passivity or indolence in the face of events.
Letter to Matthew / Dir. Colectivo Miope (Chile, 2016, 8 min)
Synopsis: Mateo Yuras (1941-2008), a Castilian teacher from Antofagasta -based in Ovalle- passionate about theater, premiered his very personal film "Sin-con-sentidos" in 2002. The tape, made domestically, was a tribute-message to his wife, who died in 1987, but also a scattered and unclassifiable autobiographical collage. In 2011 a VHS copy of the material appeared and now Mateo must find out something.
Children’s playground / Dir. Pablo Molina Guerrero (Chile, 2014, 9 min)
Synopsis: Some kids just want to have fun. One of the most feared characters in horror movies are children. You just don't know what to do with them. Besides, who would suspect them?
Elder Male Song Fragment / Dir. Roberto Oyarzún Susñar & Cristián Tàpies (Chile, 2016, 10 min)
Synopsis: An experimental video inspired by the homonymous poem by Chilean poet Pablo de Rokha. The work postulates the synchrony between the vitality of the individual memory of a speaker in its various versions, and the time of the praxis of a sustained poetic project in a political-economic context that modifies the production of words and speeches.
Natural forces / Dir. Pablo Molina Guerrero (Chile, 2015, 8 min)
Synopsis: Audiovisual experiment that, through recycled images and montage, tries to visually construct the poem of the same name by Vicente Huidobro.
Epilogue / Dir. Andrea González G. (Chile, 2013, 7 min)
Synopsis: This work uses part of my archive material, texts and videos that study the possibilities and/or limitations of language, building from there the story of a certain state of alienation. The imaginary of a character and his agonizing speech are established, a lethargic monologue that concludes by emphasizing all unresolved conflict.
